What is IPL?

If you are concerned about the appearance of hyperpigmentation or sun damage on your skin, you might be an ideal candidate for intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments at Canyon View Ear, Nose & Throat in Cedar City, UT. IPL, also known as a photofacial, uses light energy with the Harmony XL PRO technology from Alma lasers to target the necessary areas on your face to improve color and texture. It is a rejuvenating skin treatment for problems on the neck and face. The intense wavelengths of light stimulate the natural healing process and boost the production of collagen. In time, you should begin to see improvements in your skin, achieve an improved tone, and see fewer spots. Even though IPL is not an invasive procedure, it can be very effective and produce impressive outcomes for your skin. To find out if this treatment is good for you, our team can offer you a skin analysis. Contact us today to learn more on how to renew your skin.

How much does IPL cost?
Every patient's case is unique, so your cost for a photofacial will vary based on your specific condition. Canyon View Ear, Nose & Throat runs monthly specials at certain times, and we take a variety of payment options. At your aesthetic consultation, our team can help estimate your treatment pricing and explain the number of appointments needed to match your goals.

How quick are the results from IPL?
Improvements can usually be seen after your Harmony XL PRO IPL session, but final results typically develop around one month after all of your treatments are complete. It is common for you to respond differently to every treatment. You will most likely notice an incremental improvement in blotchiness, redness, and spots (age, brown, and sun spots) as time goes on.

What are the possible side effects of IPL?
Most patients have mild, temporary side effects, like redness, swelling, blisters, crusting, or bruising. However, this should naturally subside in a few days. You will be sun-sensitive, and exposure to damaging UV rays can affect the results of the procedure. We also recommend using sunscreen to protect your skin and help prevent skin damage.

Do I need to prep for IPL?
Patients preparing to receive IPL therapy are typically asked to skip sun exposure and self-tanners for about 2 – 4 weeks before their treatment. You might need to discontinue the use of minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin A/Renova several days before your procedure. We may also recommend that you avoid taking ibuprofen, aspirin, or other blood thinners for one week before your appointment to decrease your risk of bruising. You should also protect the treated areas with sunscreen.

Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?
Multiple IPL treatments deliver gradual enhancements in the appearance of your skin. Everyone's sessions and results will vary. It is important to talk to our team to get more information on how many treatments you might need. It is common for results to show up after several sessions, as they allow for longer-lasting aesthetic outcomes.
